Dampier is an iconic part of the City of Karratha landscape. We have a clear vision for its future, with plans to enhance the unique characteristics of our beloved town, solidifying Dampier as one of the region’s most desirable places to live and visit.
In keeping with that vision, Council has recently endorsed a masterplan that will see future enhancement and upgrades to the Dampier townsite, over at least the next ten years.
This high-level vision document stems from the completion of the Dampier Land Transfer from Rio Tinto to the City and enables the City to guide future projects.
The masterplan has been divided into three stages of implementation, with each stage undergoing further detailed planning and consultation prior to progression.
The initial focus will be on short term goals. Plans include further enhancements works on the foreshore, a provision of temporary boat trailer and car parking opposite the Hampton Harbour Boat & Sailing Club, development of a consolidated multi-use sorting precinct at Windy Ridge and a Feasibility Study for the proposed Tourist Park.
The current Dampier Masterplan is the result of more than 18 months of development and extensive consultation with the community and, we believe, strikes the right balance between celebrating Dampier’s existing qualities and providing a vision and framework for its future growth.
