Rate notices were sent out in the first week of August, accompanied by a letter from me to households explaining that the rates do not have to be paid until November.
Well November is rapidly creeping up on us – as is Christmas and the New Year (!) – so if you decided to defer payment, we have sent a reminder letter in the mail notifying you that the deferred rate payment date of November 10 is approaching.
You may remember this deferral of rate collection for most ratepayers was part of our initial COVID-19 support package delivered in March of this year. We also froze rates and existing City fees and charges, waived the rent for small business tenants of City properties for six months and modified the City’s Financial Hardship (Rates Relief) Policy to provide increased access to debt write off.
For more information on whether the Rates Relief Policy is available to you, head to the City of Karratha website under Pay my Rates.
All of these measures have been implemented to ease the blow associated with the pandemic and I hope they have lightened the load for you.
For more information or to discuss your rate notice, please get in touch with the City’s Rates Team on 9185 8532 or send through an email to email@example.com
And remember, the City’s free Green Waste Collection for cyclone clean-up started on Monday. Check out our Facebook site to see when your suburb’s green waste will be collected from the verges.
