The holiday season is getting into full swing as 2020 is drawing to a close.
Our Christmas in the Pilbara calendar of events has kicked off and hopefully you have had a chance to take in some of the fantastic light displays around the community, take a stroll down the Sharpe Avenue Light Walk or participate in some of the numerous festive activities and events on offer.
The City tends to get a bit quieter over the holiday period as residents often head south to visit friends and family and get a bit of respite from the heat.
If you are planning to head off over the break, it is important to ensure before leaving that your property is appropriately maintained and prepared in the event of a cyclone.
Shortly before Tropical Cyclone Damien, Rangers received numerous last minute calls from residents holidaying in Perth worried about unsecured objects such as small sheds or children’s play equipment left on their property back in Karratha. A small amount of preparation prior to heading off can ensure peace of mind and allow you to enjoy your much deserved break.
As we all begin to wind down and relax over the coming weeks, operations at City facilities also go through a quieter period, with closures and limited staff over Christmas. For emergencies and to contact Rangers, you will still be able to get in touch with our afterhours service on 9186 8555. Bin collection services will be uninterrupted during this time and continue as normal.
If you would like more information on specific facility closure dates, head to the City of Karratha Website.
