With the onset of the cooler weather we are now enjoying, the tourists and grey-haired nomads are coming back with a vengeance. Fired also by COVID-19 lockdowns and closed borders, the number of caravans and campers coming up the North West Coastal Highway is incredible. And the true tourist spots, like Monkey Mia and Exmouth have not eased off all year – it is almost impossible to get accommodation there now.
Things are a bit better than that in Karratha – we haven’t had to open our overflow camping area yet – but undoubtedly that will happen later in the year.
So now is an excellent time to take advantage of the 20% discount the City offers residents on local tours across the City of Karratha.
Initially adopted in July 2020, the discount forms part of a suite of over $4 million of initiatives we supplied to help local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The discount was set to conclude earlier this year but the City has determined to extend the assistance until the end of 2021 to provide continued support to our local tourism operators.
There are a variety of local tours on offer to experience, from dive tours amongst the biodiversity rich turquoise waters of the Dampier Archipelago, cultural tours taking in art and stories dating back thousands of years, four-wheel-driving through our vast rugged landscape, water sports and much more. Check it all out the Visitor Centre.
It is a great privilege to live in such a stunning part of the world and to have so much on offer right on our doorstep. I highly recommend residents take advantage of the 20% discount on local tours and experience something special right here in our own backyard.
